Candidate for State Representative of Florida District 33
Vernon M. Anderson Jr. of West Melbourne has officially thrown his hat into the ring, declaring his candidacy for State Representative in the 33rd District, encompassing the cities of Melbourne, West Melbourne, Melbourne Beach, and Palm Bay within Brevard County. With conviction, Anderson stated, "I am proud and excited to announce my candidacy for the democratic nomination for State Representative District 33," underlining his belief in the paramount importance of fiscal management and steadfast leadership, especially in these turbulent economic times.
Drawing upon a distinguished military career in the United States Air Force, Vernon pledges to serve the people of District 33 with the same vigor and determination that defined his military service. This dedication extends beyond his military tenure, as evidenced by his active involvement with Space Coast organizations like the West Melbourne Planning and Zoning Board and Space Coast Cultural Arts and Business Organization.
Having devoted 22 years to the United States Air Force, Anderson's academic pursuits culminated in undergraduate and master's degrees in Aeronautical Science, Aerospace Safety Systems, and Aviation Aerospace Management. He shares his life with Patrice, a dedicated Registered Nurse and US Air Force veteran, marking 35 years of partnership. Their children, Grant, Bethaney, and Brittaney Anderson, all pursue higher education in Florida.
Though their move to West Melbourne took place in 2016, the Anderson family's roots in Florida run deep, with past ties to Panama City, where Vernon led as Chief of Quality Assurance at Tyndall Air Force Base's 53rd Weapons Evaluation Group. This firsthand experience uniquely equips him to comprehend the impact of state policies on District 33.
For Anderson, change isn't a mere aspiration—it's a commitment. He asserts, "If you want change, you must be the change," urging support for Team Vern in their shared mission for transformation. The concerning effects of Florida's current political landscape, Mr. Anderson emphasizes how economic disparities and cultural distinctions have affected communities like Palm Bay and West Melbourne. With fervor, he champions the need to address soaring insurance costs, advocating for unity in driving prices down.
Anticipating a prosperous future marked by job growth and affordable housing, Anderson recognizes the draw of multi-housing units in these vibrant communities. His fiscal acumen, honed in a prominent Aerospace and Defense company on the Space Coast, underscores his understanding of balanced budgets. He pledges collaboration with city leaders, aligning their needs and visions with the support required for community advancement.
In his pursuit of the 33rd District's representation, Anderson distinguishes himself from the incumbent, critiquing their less-than-effective leadership since 2016. He champions a different approach, one rooted in close collaboration with city leaders to ensure robust representation for the community. Vernon's commitment to resolute and impactful leadership promises a brighter future for the district and its flourishing communities.
